Dear USPA Members and polo community,
As we continue to face these unprecedented challenging and stressful times, the USPA would like to assure our members and clubs across the nation of our commitment to continue to support the sport of polo.
We have not overlooked the fact that the immediate needs of the sport and polo communities we promote and serve are ongoing. In an effort to help alleviate the financial strain being placed on the sport and polo community, please review the available programs below. Each program has been developed to meet specific needs.
It is our sincere hope that you and your families stay healthy, positive and safe. All program information is available below. Please do not hesitate to reach out to USPA staff and leadership at any time if you need any assistance.
Sincerely,
Stewart Armstrong, USPA Chairman
As the country continues to emerge out of the COVID-19 crisis, it is important for USPA Member Clubs to continue playing polo and hosting USPA Tournaments and Events. These events help support the club’s activity as well as provide opportunities to support the polo community. The USPA Board recognizes the need to continue to support the Clubs during these times and has approved the extension of the USPA Polo Tournament Stimulus Package (TSP) through 2021. Clubs must adhere to the USPA approved Return to Play Guidelines. Please note, all USPA Outdoor Women’s Events with an upper handicap limit of 20 goals or below now qualify for assistance.
As the country continues to face the COVID-19 global pandemic, there are likely to be horses within the USPA intercollegiate community that require distress relief. USPA Members at intercollegiate clubs who struggle to maintain proper upkeep of their horses and have fallen into desperate need of assistance will be able to apply for intercollegiate ERP assistance in order to provide their horses proper nutrition.
Effective Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020
The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
