Texas Arena League (TAL) is just around the corner and 2020 will be even bigger and better. Texas Arena League is played throughout four different events at three different locations around the Lone Star State. Teams and individuals compete for points toward the End of League Awards and the coveted TAL belt buckles.
New for 2020 is the C Flight for new/beginner players and 6-9 goal tournament play.
“We started the C Flight and played the USPA Arena Delegates Cup (6-9) last year at Midland Polo Club, the last stop for 2019 Texas Arena League,” says TAL coordinator Megan Flynn. “We had so much interest and such good feedback that we have added both to the regular Texas Arena League schedule in addition to the 0-3 Goal and the 3-6 Goal Divisions. They will both be stand-alone events.”
“Interest in Texas Arena League just keeps growing,” says Karl Hilberg of Texas Military Polo and CTPA. “There are so many people asking about how to get involved. It is a great format and gives us some fun, competitive Winter polo in Texas. We even have players coming from Oklahoma and Arizona to participate.”
In addition to the draw of the competition, camaraderie with fellow players and the list of prizes are also pulling players in.
According to USPA Governor at Large and TAL promoter Robin Sanchez, “we have fantastic award sponsors on board for 2020 - U.S. Polo Assn., Nutrena, Superior Equine Sports Massage, Jackrabbit Tack, Pro Chukker, Royal B Threads, Catena USA, Elite Motion and Performance, CCC Ranch, American National Insurance - Galvin Agency, just to name a few – all providing fantastic prizes for the players and teams. From Sportsmanship Award and Most Valuable Player to Best String and Most Improved - the list goes on.”
Players can join for one event or travel to all four. All locations have boarding and lease horses are available from multiple providers. For more information go to www.texasarenaleague.com

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
