The 2017 National Youth Tournament Series (NYTS) Qualifier Tournaments are well underway across the country. The NYTS provides an opportunity for young players to compete against their peers in a traditional tournament setting. All-Stars are selected at each qualifying event based on the participant's playing ability at current handicap, sportsmanship, horsemanship and their ability to play as a member of a team. All-Stars are eligible to be selected to represent their zone in the NYTS National Championship held in Santa Barbara, California, over Labor Day Weekend. A second flight East vs. West Challenge tournament will take place over Championship Weekend and feature a minimum of two female players per team.
Most recently, Aiken Polo Club in Aiken, South Carolina, hosted a NYTS Qualifier with many skilled participants. Two flights of players competed with Wilcox Manor (Lila Bennett, Charlie Caldwell, Carson Freeland, Ry Koopman) winning the A-Flight and Polo Adventures (Alea Crespo, Grace Ellis, Summer Kneece, Zachary Wallace) winning the B-Flight.
A-Flight Most Valuable Player was awarded to Charlie Caldwell. Tournament All Stars were, Harry Caldwell, Charlie Caldwell, Lila Bennett, Malia Bryan and Alfred “Will” Green.

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
