Sarasota Polo Club is proud to announce their 30th anniversary season schedule in 2021! Established in 1991 as the first development in the award-winning, master-planned community of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, the Sarasota Polo Club has a remarkable legacy. The club offers four months of polo, spanning from 4- to 14-goal and everything in between. Public polo matches are held every Sunday beginning December 13, 2020, through April 25, 2021.
In 1922 the property now known as Sarasota Polo Club was settled as a 28,000-acre timber ranch. Originally the cowboys who worked on the ranch began playing knock-around polo games in their free time. Ranch hands rode their quarter horses with stock saddles using make-shift equipment and knowing very little about polo, the cowboys played by their own rules. Eventually mallets, saddles and a few polo ponies were donated to the “cowboy games,” and a real polo club was born.
Spanning 130 perfectly manicured acres, Sarasota Polo Club’s world-class facilities include 45 private equestrian estates, seven bermuda grass polo fields, a regulation-sized polo arena, a half-mile all-weather training track, a stick-and-ball field, riding trails, on-site stabling for 300 horses, a member’s clubhouse and a midfield polo pavilion.
New players can begin by taking lessons with one of the instructors at the club: Neil and Ashlie Osburg, Scott Lancaster or Stuart Campbell. After establishing a foundation, they progress to playing in the arena league and then on to playing chukkers on the grass in the club’s beginning Sunshine League. Once a player is ready for tournament polo they can join at a variety of levels.
Sarasota Polo Club is abiding by state and local regulations in regards to COVID-19 and has a variety of seating options for Sunday polo, including reserved fieldside tailgates and midfield VIP seating. Sarasota Polo Club also has open-air tents and buildings available for rent for groups. Each Sunday the club offers an opening parade, a live national anthem, halftime entertainment, food and drinks, and the traditional divot stomping.

Sarasota Polo Club is offering a 15% discount on entry fees paid one month prior to the tournament start date and a 20% discount if paid two months prior to the start date.

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
