The Houston Polo Club hosted its first 12-goal tournament this past week which ended with an exciting final game. Eight strong teams entered the USPA Southwestern Regional Classic, but Scott Wood's ERG team and Fox Benton's Ghurka team were the two teams to make it to the Final.
ERG's dynamic duo, Michel Dorignac and Mike Azzaro, started out focused and quickly gained a two goal lead over Ghurka after the first chukker. Ghurka's Sugar Erskine responded in the second chukker with two beautiful coast to coast goals quickly tying up the game. However, Mike Azzaro and Duilio Diaz kept hammering in the goals maintaining ERG's three goal lead going into the third chukker. Throughout the remainder of the game, it was all Dorignac with goals from the field and Azzaro converting his penalty shots that led ERG to thier tournament win over Ghurka with a score of 13-8. MVP was awarded to Michel Dorignac and BPP was awarded to Luna, owned and played by Sugar Erskine.
