Tinicum Park Polo Club located in Erwinna, Pennsylvania, hosted their annual 8-goal USPA Regional President’s Cup on August 8. It was an exciting match from the first to the final goal. Travmedia with Mark Mulligan, Dani Wasty, Hernan Tasso and Nick Wayland, took on New Hope with Tim Cheromka, Rhea Lowenthal and Rich Weidel splitting a position, Marcos Bignoli and Jesus Onitiveros. New Hope started with one on the board due to handicap.
Mulligan came out quick for Travmedia scoring the first goal followed by another two goals by Tasso. In the second chukker, Bignoli closed the gap only to have Tasso widen the margin for Travmedia going into the third chukker up by three goals. Ontiveros played great defense, holding Travmedia to a scoreless third chukker while teammate, Bignoli added two more to the board. Going into halftime, Travmedia was ahead by one, 5-6.
The fourth chukker saw Tasso widen the margin to two for Travmedia, but Bignoli brought New Hope to their first lead in the fifth chukker with multiple goals. The final chukker was a nail bitter as each team battled for the lead. Weidel for New Hope clenched the game with the final goal in the last minute. New Hope won the USPA Regional President's Cup 10-9 over Travmedia. Marcos Bignoli was awarded Most Valuable Player and his horse California was awarded Best Playing Pony.
