Seven young players took to the Maui Polo Club arena to compete in the Middle School League in Makawao, Hawaii. Maui Black’s Jayci Jay Clark and Ka’ili Rice each scored from the field to give their team the lead in the first chukker. With help from teammate Kaya Tyrrell, they held Maui White scoreless in the first chukker. Teammates Luna Milligan, Elizabeth Miranda, and Leah Melzer of Maui White held Tyrrell and Maui Black to a single score in the second chukker to head into halftime with Maui Black ahead 3-0. Clark found the goal first in the third chukker for Maui Black, but White’s Emily Coflin scored from the field to get her team on the board. Rice rounded out the scoring in the third chukker, extending Black’s lead to four again. White was unable to answer again in the fourth, as Black with goals from Clark and Tyrrell, rode away with the win 7-1.
Jayci Jay Clark, Emily Coflin, Ka’ili Rice, and Kaya Tyrrell were chosen as All-Stars. Elizabeth Miranda was elected to receive the Sportsmanship Award. Jayci Jay Clark’s Kula Girl was chosen as Best Playing Pony.

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
