The Linfoot Memorial Tournament was held at Santa Barbara Polo Club this past weekend. The tournament is played every year in honor of Billy Linfoot, a renowned 9-goal player. The Linfoot Memorial is open to children 15 years and younger, offering four different levels of polo: Lead line, Walk/Trot, Hand Canter and Rock and Roll. This year’s tournament included two generations of polo players. Jeff Hall and son Luke participated, along with Matt and AJ Walker. Walker and Hall both played in the Linfoot Memorial as children and were happy to pass the tradition down to their young ones. All of the participants had a great time and are looking forward to next year’s tournament.
MVP’s for each division:
Lead line Game 1
Emanuel Brine
Lead line Game 2
AJ Walker
Hand Canter
Paquito deNarvaez
Rock and Roll
Lucas Escobar
Effective Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020
The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
