On October 21, the polo community lost an incredible young woman and talented polo player. Lauren Biddle, beloved daughter of Tommy and Yvette Biddle, was a passionate horsewoman, animal lover, adventurer and friend to many. In New Zealand for a working and playing opportunity, she passed tragically in a non-polo related accident. One of the newest members of Team USPA, her fun-loving spirit left its impact on many, and her legacy will live on through those who play the sport that she loved so much.

Following the tragic news, an outpouring of love was expressed on social media. “We as a family have been overwhelmed with thoughts and support from around the world,” said Tommy Biddle in a post on Facebook. “I am truly amazed at how many people she touched in her short time here. She did more in her 22 years with us then others do in a full life. She was my angel, my light, my girl. I have a huge hole in my heart. I thank everyone for their kind words, thoughts and prayers,” he said.

This past summer Lauren worked at USPA Rocky Mountain Circuit Governor Erica Gandomcar-Sachs’ Denver Polo Club in Sedalia, Colorado. Erica shared a touching tribute on social media, “she stepped into my life and was an incredible role model for me and my daughter. She was so smart beyond her years and she lived life everyday with such a kind heart, compassion and honesty in everything she did. She was an incredible human and touched every single person and creature on earth with the same love and respect.”

A celebration of Lauren’s life and achievements will be held on Sunday, November 18, at 5:00pm ET at the Wellington National Golf Club (400 Binks Forest Dr, Wellington, FL 33414). The Biddle family would like to invite all to fondly reminisce and remember Lauren in a casual atmosphere. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully ask for donations to the Lauren M. Biddle Remembrance Fund on GoFundMe® supporting the Polo Players Support Group and David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for orphaned elephants.
