International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) in Wellington, Florida, is working closely with the Village of Wellington, Palm Beach County and local health services to take extra precautions concerning the threat of the coronavirus (COVID-19). It is with great disappointment that we have determined that it is in the best interest of health and safety for our players, their families and team organizations, fans and all the people that help to put on our polo events, for us to cancel the balance of 2020 GAUNTLET OF POLO® winter season. We anticipate rescheduling the remainder of the 2020 USPA Gold Cup® tournament in late January 2021, prior to the start of the 2021 GAUNTLET OF POLO®. We will be considering the feasibility of rescheduling the 2020 U.S. Open Polo Championship®, as well as options for changing the handicap level of the pre-Gauntlet tournaments next winter. We will be reaching out to all participating teams for their input prior to finalizing these decisions. The United States Polo Association (USPA) and IPC will work closely together to manage the maintenance of the IPC polo fields throughout the entire year, and we will send you updates over the course of the off-season to show the progress of the field improvements. We are also anticipating adding two additional tournament fields to the allotment for next season. We want to extend our sincere gratitude for all of your support throughout these difficult times. We hope you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy.
Due to recent updates regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Gay Polo League’s (GPL) events are postponed until there is more information about the current situation. GPL will announce new dates within the next few weeks as safety and health are paramount to guests, players and GPL supporters. GPL shall honor all ticket purchases for the rescheduled events. Effective Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020
The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
