The United States Polo Association® (USPA) and Team USPA have joined with Huntré! Equine for the 2nd Annual India International Women’s Polo Tour, January 5-22, 2017. A USPA led international initiative to support, develop and promote women’s polo in India the tour will include events in New Delhi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Imphal and Mumbai. Stephanie Massey, Audry Persano, Carly Persano and Anna Winslow will represent Team USPA. Cultivated with the combined efforts of Governor at Large Steven Armour, International Committee Chair George Dill and Director of Player Development Amanda Snow, the tour aims to foster international relationships and cross cultural experiences, exposing and developing the world-wide footprint of polo.
Team USPA will arrive in Delhi on January 5 and travel to Agra and Jaipur for four days of sightseeing visiting landmarks such as the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Amber Palace and City Palace. The players will then travel to Nasr Polo Club in Hyderabad for a three-day clinic and tournament. The arena tournament in Hyderabad will feature four teams, each captained by a Team USPA member with two Indian women players. Following the tournament in Hyderabad, the women’s tour will continue in Imphal for the 2nd Manipur Statehood Day Women’s Polo Tournament (January 16-21) at the historic Mapal Kangjeibund Polo Grounds. Presented by the All Manipur Polo Association (AMPA) the tournament will feature four teams including Team USPA, Hurlingham Polo Association, Team India and AMPA Players of Manipur. Differing from last year’s tournament format, this year Team USPA will have the opportunity to compete as a team. The Amateurs Riding Club in Mumbai will be the final stop on the tour with an arena exhibition match between Team USPA and Hurlingham Polo Association slated for January 23. The USPA wish the four Team USPA members safe travels and good luck as they play, teach and represent the Association!

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
