The Ocala Polo Club (Ocala, Florida) is hosting its third annual "Horses & Heroes" polo fundraiser event from Friday, February 24 through Sunday, February 26. All proceeds raised by event activities will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, an initiative aimed at improving the lives of millions of warriors and their families through direct programs in mental health, career counseling and long-term rehabilitative care. The two previous "Horses & Heroes" polo events each raised more than $5,000, and this year's event is expected to raise over $10,000!
USPA military polo players who have served or are currently serving and are interested in playing in the event should contact Colonel (Ret.) Gene Del Bianco at ginbai@aol.com.
Starting off the weekend activities, on Friday evening, there will be a gala dinner held at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida. Following the dinner and speeches, a silent auction will be conducted. A military arena polo match is planned for Saturday evening at a location to be determined and a field polo match will be held on Sunday at the Florida Horse Park in Ocala, Florida. As with the other planned events, all proceeds raised from the Sunday match will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. Please visit the Ocala Polo Club’s website at www.ocalapolo.com for ticket purchases and other information regarding the event.
Effective Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020
The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
