The VII Argentine Women’s Open officially kicked off on Wednesday, November 20, at the Alfredo Lalor Headquarters in Pilar, with the spotlight firmly on American polo star Hope Arellano*. The only player with an Argentine 10-goal handicap in women’s polo, Arellano leads defending champions El Overo Z7 UAE (Hazel Jackson, Candelaria “Cande” Fernández Araujo, Milly Hine). The reigning victors will face fierce competition from elite players representing Argentina, the United States, France and England. With seven international players making up 44% of the roster, the tournament promises intense rivalries.
Featuring four teams with handicaps ranging from 27- to 36-goals, the tournament showcases the best of international women’s polo. Matches will follow a round-robin format with the finale slated for Saturday, December 7, between the top two teams at Palermo’s iconic Field 2 serving as a prelude to the final of 131st Argentine Open.
