Two American players are competing this year in the British high-goal season which began on Wednesday, May 19, with the Prince of Wales Trophy at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club in Windsor, Berkshire, England. Winning the 2020 Cartier Queen’s Cup with Les Lions, Dillon Bacon has returned with Great Oaks/Les Lions ready to defend the title. Competing in the English high-goal for the first time, 18-year-old rising star Mackenzie Weisz is playing with Monterosso (Mackenzie Weisz, Alessandro Bazzoni, Ignacio Toccalino, David ‘Pelon’ Stirling) after just coming off the 2021 GAUNTLET OF POLO® with Coca-Cola.
Following Monterosso’s second game on Monday, May 24, the team is currently 2-0 while Great Oaks/Les Lions has been knocked out of the tournament. Divided into two leagues of six teams each, the tournament features 18 past GAUNTLET OF POLO® competitors on the rosters. The winner of each league will advance to the final on Saturday, May 29. Out of the 12 teams competing, Scone and Park Place have carried their rivalry over the pond after Park Place claimed the C.V. Whitney Cup® and prevented Scone from sweeping the 2021 GAUNTLET OF POLO®. Global Polo TV subscribers can watch the Prince of Wales Cup Trophy for free on globalpolo.com.
