One of the highlights of the Winter High-Goal Season in Wellington, Florida, each year is the induction of new members into the Hall of Fame at the Museum of Polo. It has been called “The Academy Awards of Polo” and attracts the stars of the polo world – players, team owners and fans from around the globe. Preparations are in full swing for Friday, February 17, when four great men and two gallant equine heroes of our sport will be honored and inducted into the esteemed Polo Hall of Fame – Mariano Aguerre, John “Jackie” Murphy, Leverett S. Miller, George Miller, Chicken and Nebraska Sunset. The museum hopes that all will join in welcoming these inspirational figures to the Hall of Fame as we celebrate their accomplishments and contributions to the sport of polo.
Guests arriving on the red carpet for the Grand Reception will be treated to an array of passed hors d’oeuvres and free-flowing champagne at the Korbel Bubbles Bar. It will be a great time to explore the museum, its newly-installed exhibits and get re-acquainted with long lost friends while also making new ones. Wine and cocktails will be served for the reception and dinner courtesy of Lipman Brothers LLC, Brown Forman, Bacardi USA, Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Korbel. We are also excited to welcome a great new sponsor to our venue, 14 Hands Winery.
The elegant, seated dinner following the reception is being graciously sponsored by Marc and Melissa Ganzi and Grand Champions Polo Club (Wellington, Florida). The evening’s entertainment is sponsored by Wayne and Pamela Garrison. Photographer Alex Pacheco and artist Melinda Brewer are also sponsors/donors of their services for the event and for the museum’s exhibits during the year. The museum is grateful to all of the sponsors and ask you to please support them whenever you can.
If you would like to join in this tribute to welcome these legendary individuals to the Polo Hall of Fame, you may purchase seats for the dinner up to a week in advance. The dinner takes place at the Museum of Polo at 9011 Lake Worth Road, Lake Worth, Florida, 33467. Reservations are $250.00 each (tax deductible portion $125.00). The Hall of Fame Awards Dinner is the most important fundraising event for the Museum each year, so please help support your Museum, a 501 (c) 3, not-for-profit organization.
The museum is also taking orders for the latest phase of the Walk of Fame Brick installation. Please contact Brenda at the museum ASAP to reserve your place in polo history with a brick in the Museum’s Walk of Fame. The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
