The annual Michael Koski Memorial will take place Friday, August 19 through Sunday, August 21 at Central New York Polo Club and Skaneateles Polo Club, both located in Skaneateles, New York. The tournament will benefit the Polo Training Foundation (PTF) scholarship fund in memory of Michael Koski.
Michael Koski began playing polo on Cornell’s interscholastic team, then later joined the Central New York Polo Club. Michael was loved by all he came into contact with and cared deeply about his horses. During his high school career, his family helped facilitate his passion for polo, traveling with him to clinics like the Viriginia Interscholastic Clinic. He also traveled to Argentina with the Palacios brothers and his instructor, Mario Dino.
Michael attended the University of Maine at Machias. He tragically passed away after a motorcycle accident during his sophomore year. Since the incident, the Central New York Polo Club has sponsored the Michael Koski Memorial. Players travel from all over the Northeast and beyond to honor his memory.
Michael’s parents have also generously helped the next generation of polo players through awarding a scholarship for high school players’ club dues to the Central New York Polo Club and by loaning Michael’s horses to young polo players during the summer season.
There is no age limit for individual players who are interested in competing. Players will enter as individuals and the host committee will form teams. Depending on the number of entries, there may be different levels of play.
There is no set entry fee to compete in the Michael Koski Memorial, but a $200 donation to the PTF is recommended.

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
