Story Courtesy of Eldorado Polo Club.
Due to the rising health concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the recommendations by the CDC and the White House to cease all gatherings of more than ten people, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the tournaments for the remainder of the Eldorado Polo Club season in Indio, California. The decision was made based on the recommendations of the United States Polo Association that every USPA Club suspends all Club Events for at least a 14 day period. This period will take us into the conclusion of the Winter season.
We understand that this is an unfortunate end to what has been one of the best seasons in recent Eldorado history. It was great to have so many teams competing in all of the leagues with parity and quality competition at all levels. It was also fantastic to see so many faces at the club, both new and old which provided an exciting and vibrant atmosphere that we all hope will continue in 2021.
California and Riverside County Public Health Officials, following the guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), have determined that gatherings should be postponed or canceled across the state to limit the spread of COVID-19, the Coronavirus. Eldorado Polo Club in Indio, California, has suspended all Sunday Polo Events for the remainder of the 2020 season and looks forward to seeing everyone for the Opening Day of the 2021 season on January 3, 2021.
Effective Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020
The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
