Players from Colombia, Portugal, Brazil, USA, Canada, Italy and Mexico all came together April 15-17 to participate in the prestigious 8- to 10-goal Agua Alta/USPA Southwestern Circuit Constitution Cup held at the Careyes Polo Club in Jalisco, Mexico. Located on the Pacific Ocean south of Puerto Vallarta, the competition fielded four teams including: La Karina/Campari (Brian Boyd, Patrick Boyd, Benito Hernandez, Vale Aguilar), Agua Alta/Piso 51 – Ferrari (Coco Sandhu, Milo Ardissone, Juan Jose de Alba, Guillermo Li), Cabinet Connection/GQ Mexico (Chis Falk, Will Falk, Federico Uribe, Miguel Gomez de Parada) and Quito Sol/Bulgari (Manuel Matos, Conrad Kissling, Diego Solorzano, Fernando Morganti).
All week, play was fast and furious, and the beautiful events throughout the tournament made for a glorious week of parties and polo. The opening party was sponsored by Alberto and Kari Ardissone as well as Giorgio Brignone, founder of the Careyes Polo Club. The headlining sponsor, Bulgari, was spectacular, hosting a special trunk show of their stunning jewelry at the Castle Orient de Sol accompanied by Ferrari sparkling wine and complimentary Campari. The competing teams were honored at each of the events.
In the semifinals, Quinto Sol met La Karina and Cabinet Connection battled against Agua Alta. The two winners, Cabinet Connection and Quinto Sol, advanced to the finals. The game was back-and-forth right up until the end, but Cabinet Connection was able to edge out Quinto Sol by one to steal the victory 9-8.
Never once wavering in faith or determination, this year marked the first time that the Falk brothers have won the Agua Alta/USPA Southwestern Constitution Cup in their 13 years of competing. The Falk brothers have spent years traveling the world and playing together as “Los Hermanos” as a tribute to their brother, Josh, who passed away at 18 in a tragic car accident. The brothers’ business, JCW, also has meaningful familial ties, as it was named after the three brothers (Josh, Chris and Will). Inspired by their story, GQ Magazine offered to sponsor the “Los Hermanos” team this year in the Agua Alta/USPA Southwestern Constitution Cup. “It was a dream come true for the Falk family…together anything is possible!” shared Chris Falk, who is ecstatic about the win.
To end the tournament, Will Falk was named Amateur MVP and Diego Solorzano’s Alvanera was awarded Best Playing Pony honors. Fernando Morganti was named Pro MVP.
It was a fabulous week of polo and fun for both players and spectators in Jalisco, Mexico. Go to www.careyes.com to learn more about Careyes Polo Club or contact Juan Gonzalez at polo@careyes.com!
