"Coach, we will forever hold in our hearts the opportunities you've given us to be around horses and to experience the incredible sport of polo. The memories and friendships that you have allowed us to make are ones we will carry with us for a lifetime. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for all you've done for us and for all that we have learned under your guide. Thanks Coach. May you rest easy, and know that your legacy will live on in the impact you have made on all of our lives."

It is with great sadness that the United States Polo Association announces the passing of Clyde Calvin Waddell Jr., beloved Texas Tech Polo coach and avid Intercollegiate/Interscholastic supporter, at the age of 74. Clyde passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, in Lubbock, Texas. In his retirement he found his true passion - Texas Tech Polo. What began in 1999 as simply boarding Texas Tech Polo horses at his beloved farm, turned into a full-time job of coaching and traveling. His coaching career was highlighted by a National Championship obtained by the Texas Tech Men's Polo Team in 2006. His coaching continued until the day he died. The Memorial Service was held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Sanders Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Texas Tech Polo Club. Make checks payable to Texas Tech University (memo reference: Tech Polo Club) and mailed to: Recreational Sports, c/o Texas Tech Polo Club, PO Box 42151, Lubbock TX 79409.
