The 2018 Florida Circuit Constitution Cup, the first 10-goal tournament of the season at Sarasota Polo Club in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, was decided last weekend. Four teams participated in the first stage, played between Friday, January 26, and Thursday, February 1. Barefield (Mark Mulligan, Jennifer Williams, Pelón Escapite, Marcos Onetto) made it through with three victories, one of them a clear 13-6 win against Hillcroft/Tito’s (James Miller, James P. Uihlein, Herndon Radcliff*, Joe Wayne Barry), yet they would meet again in the final after Hillcroft/Tito’s defeated Whiskey Pond and New Hope.
The orange/black squad had their redemption on Sunday, February 4. Not only did they avenge their previous defeat, but they also managed to do it by the exact same score as the match played the week prior. Even better, Herndon Radcliff was the Most Valuable Player. Jennifer Williams had a small consolation in her mare Marea, who won the Best Playing Pony honors.
*Herndon Radcliff is a member of Team USPA. Team USPA is a USPA program designed to enhance and grow the sport of polo in the United States by identifying young, talented American players and providing mentored training and playing opportunities leading to a pool of higher rated amateur and pro players and the resultant giveback to the sport of polo.
Effective Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020
