Adolfo Cambiaso's 2022 GAUNTLET OF POLO season with Scone has ended following an injury sustained in the USPA Gold Cup semifinals at International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington, Florida.

While competing in the second semifinal of the USPA Gold Cup at International Polo Club (IPC) in Wellington, Florida, against Park Place on Thursday, March 24, Scone’s Adolfo Cambiaso was injured in the second chukker and replaced for the remainder of the game by Bartolome Castagnola.

La Dolfina posted the following update on their Twitter account on Saturday, March 26. "Adolfo Cambiaso had surgery on his pubalgia. He had a tenotomy on his left adductor, and has been released, in stable condition, and will return to the U.S. tomorrow [Sunday, March 27] to continue with his recovery." Cambiaso is familiar with the injury, as he had a similar one a few years ago, although on his right leg.

Cambiaso's final GAUNTLET stats include 1.8 goals per game, 1.9 assists per game and appearances in the C.V. Whitney Cup® final and USPA Gold Cup® semifinal.

"I'd rather have a surgery now so I don't have to feel that pain, it's unbearable," Cambiaso told CLICKPOLOUSA. Although originally set to play in the U.S. Open Polo Championship, Cambiaso will now be off the field for two months. "I'll be doing fine in a month and a half, and perfect in two," he added.

With those dates in mind, Cambiaso is planning to arrive in top form for the English season, and continue as scheduled with the Argentine Triple Crown where he plans to play alongside his son Poroto Cambiaso, Pelon Stirling and Juan Martin Nero for La Dolfina.

Originally slated to compete with La Elina in the U.S. Open Polo Championship, Guillermo "Sapo" Caset (10) will replace Cambiaso, while Geronimo Obregon* (5) and Juan Martin Obregon (5) will join Facundo Obregon (6) and Jared Zenni* (6) for La Elina.

*Geronimo Obregon and Jared Zenni are Team USPA alumni. Team USPA is a USPA program designed to enhance and grow the sport of polo in the United States by identifying young, talented American players and providing mentored training and playing opportunities leading to a pool of higher rated amateur and pro players and the resultant giveback to the sport of polo.
