The Eldorado Polo Club in Indio, California, recently hosted a youth tournament that brought together an impressive 76 players across 19 teams and six flights. The tournament was a record-breaking success and showcased the immense talent and enthusiasm for polo among the next generation of young polo players.
Players from 14 different clubs, including those traveling from as far as Hawaii and Aiken, competed across multiple divisions. The event was highlighted by the National Youth Tournament Series Qualifier, and included A-, B- and C-Flights as well as lead-line events for the youngest participants. The wide range of categories ensured that each player had the opportunity to take part in a competitive and supportive environment tailored to their level of experience.
Beyond the matches, the weekend was filled with community-building activities. A Friday night meet-and-greet, complete with a taco truck, team presentations and live and silent auctions, created a lively atmosphere and fostered camaraderie among players and families. On Saturday, a yoga class led by Megan Llambias by the Eldorado Pond raised funds for the tournament, while a food truck served breakfast and lunch throughout the day.
Inspired by other iconic tournaments like the Copa Potrillos in Argentina, this event marks a significant step toward creating a similar legacy in the United States. It was not about the final scores; the true victory was bringing together so many young players to celebrate their shared passion for polo. Eldorado Polo Club remains committed to nurturing the future of the sport, offering a stage where emerging talent can flourish and lifelong friendships can be forged.
