The mission of the Team USPA Committee is to improve the sport of polo in the United States by developing the talent/skills of young American players through mentored training and playing opportunities, ultimately leading to a pool of higher rated American players.
This program identifies talented American polo players who are committed to pursuing a career as a polo professional. Players applying to the Team USPA program must demonstrate their commitment to polo and have clear and specific goals related to their career. Selection criteria will include playing ability, horsemanship, improvement potential, attitude and work ethic. If the applicant is selected, he/she will be required to participate in an immersion clinic, take a written rules test and become trained as a certified umpire during their first year in the program. Newly admitted players must be willing to play with other members of their Team USPA class in specific tournaments. Opportunities to apply for training in Argentina and grants designed for unique playing opportunities will be available to help advance players’ level of play.
All materials and applications for 2019 will be accepted until Sunday, April 14, 2019. All applications are to be submitted online only.

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
