Dave Strouss is the Captain of Polo at the Myopia Polo Club in Hamilton, Massachusetts, where he has played for the past 30 years. Myopia is one of the oldest polo clubs in the United States where polo has been played since 1887 and is one of the largest clubs in the Northeast. As Captain since 2021, Dave has focused on improvements of Myopia’s 5 polo fields and spearheaded the complete rebuilding of Myopia’s newest tournament polo field.
Dave has strived to maintain the rich legacy of polo at this historical club, which currently hosts 13 polo teams and 7 tournaments. Dave has been actively involved in the USPA as the delegate for Myopia since 2007 and has previously served on the Equine Welfare Committee. He has played polo his entire life, having grown up in the Midwest in a polo-playing family. His father, Bud Strouss, was captain of the Cornell polo team in the late 1940s and was a mainstay at the Columbus Del Rancho Polo Club. Dave has continued the family tradition sponsoring the Del Rancho Polo Team and has won the National Chairman’s Cup 9 times.
Dave takes pride in not having missed playing in a Myopia tournament since his very early years at the Club. Dave is a graduate of Brown University and is an attorney in Boston where he has specialized in complex civil litigation for 40 years. Dave lives in Ipswich, Massachusetts on his farm with his wife, Tracy, 9 horses and 2 dogs and has 2 daughters, Samantha and Caroline, and a granddaughter, Bexley.

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
