My name is Steven Armour and I have accepted the nomination for election as Governor of the Southwestern Circuit. Paul Jornayvez, the present Governor, has endorsed me to run, as he feels that I have the experience and knowledge of the workings of the USPA Board and Circuit to carry on his work for the continued smooth running of the Circuit.
A little background information on me and my experience. I have been a member of the USPA since 1993. I have played at many levels up to 12-goal in those 30+ years. I have run a breeding, training and boarding operation since 1997, selling and leasing horses to all levels of players. I have been a member of the Houston Polo Club during that time, serving on the club board since 1996, as president for 4 years, and delegate since 2010. In 2015 I was elected as a Governor-at-Large and served in that position until 2022.
During my time as a delegate and Governor-at-Large I have attended all the USPA meetings and served on several committees, including Armed Forces, Board and Staff, Constitution, I/I, Polo Development, Team USPA, Tournament, and most recently Chairing the Club and Membership since its inception. I have assisted Paul in circuit operations during his tenure as Governor. I am well versed in the operation of the Association and the Circuit.
I would appreciate your support in my endeavor to serve as your Circuit Governor. I would work to maintain the strength and growth of the circuit, clubs, membership, and tournaments at all levels and support all clubs as best I can. I would appreciate your vote in the Governor race.
Should you like to know anything further about my qualifications or have any questions for me, please feel free to contact me.
Effective Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020
The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
