She decided to take a polo lesson on a whim at the Kentucky Horse Park from Jorge Vasquez. She quickly fell in love with the sport and within a few months, she moved to Lexington to pursue a job in the polo industry. She then went on to work at the Nashville Polo Club where she won the Groom of the Year Award in 2014. Sammie began teaching polo at Franklin Polo Academy in May of 2016 with James Armstrong.

What has been one of your favorite teaching memories?
“Watching a handful of quiet 4-H girls quickly learn the sport and grow competitive. They played in front of our event crowd and did so well. I was very proud of them.”
