Megan grew up playing polo in California with her grandfather, Bill Carter. When Megan began playing collegiately at Cal Poly she was the only member on the team who played outdoor and began taking on the instructor role for her peers and friends. Currently Megan is the coach for the Cal Polo Team, Central Coast Polo Club and is the owner and manager of the Central Coast Polo Club, started in 2002. Megan currently has teams competing in Middle School Tournaments, NYTS, Open and Girls Scholastics, Men’s and Women’s Collegiate and competes in many tournaments herself. In addition to coaching, she is a member of the Arena Committee, Club Development Committee, I/I Committee and works with local Pony Clubs.
What has been one of your favorite teaching memories?
“In 2013 the Central Coast Polo Club Girls team defeated the Eldorado Open team (all boys) in a preliminary/qualifying match, by a score of 14-7. It definitely gave me a huge smile…. I don’t think the boys were in shape, but it was a win none the less!”

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
