She started polo lessons as a middle school student at Garrison Forest School. She went on to play for Garrison Forest’s Interscholastic team winning two Women’s Interscholastic National Championships under Cindy Halle. After graduating from Garrison Forest in 2011, Jenny went to Virginia Tech, a college that did not have a polo team. She decided to start one with the help of the Interscholastic/Intercollegiate Polo Development team. She was able to get equipment, horses, built a small practice arena and got the club going. She coached all of the students that went through the program until she graduated in 2015. Jenny received the 2015 Intercollegiate Female Player of the Year award. After graduation, Jenny started a USPA internship with Melanja Jones at Capitol Polo Club in Poolesville, MD. After the season ended, she began an internship with Justin Powers. Since then Jenny has worked with Team USPA horses in Wellington, managed NYTS tournaments, managed I/I tournaments, worked on various Polo Development projects and is now running a polo school at Seneca Polo Club in Poolesville, MD. Jenny started this polo school in the spring of 2016. Jenny most recently received the Polo Development Individual Excellence Award in the fall of 2016.
What has been one of your favorite teaching memories?
“My favorite teaching memory will always be the Women’s Intercollegiate Preliminary Tournament in the winter of 2015. I had been coaching dozens of Virginia Tech students while being a student myself and the Varsity team finally was at a level where they could compete in tournaments. I had gone three years with playing very little polo and only coaching students so they could get to the point of being competitive. I played alongside them in my senior year. We lost in the finals but my teammates played a competitive and safe game of polo all using the skills I taught them.”
Effective Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020
The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
