He has a 4 Goal handicap and grew up in a polo playing family in South Africa. James is a fourth-generation polo player- his father, grandfather and great grandfather were all accomplished polo players. He began teaching polo in Nashville at the Nashville Polo Club, where he has been the manager for over 15 years. He founded the Franklin Polo Academy in Franklin, Tennessee in 2015. James is a former member of the National USPA Handicap Committee and recently received the Life Time Achievement Award from Chukkers for Charity Annual Polo Match for his involvement with the event for 20 years.

What has been one of your favorite teaching memories?
"That would have to be my three sons recently started riding and taking polo lessons with me. Their ages are 11, 9 and 5."
