WOMEN'S PACIFIC COAST OPEN
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Established in 2019 at Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club (SBPRC) in Carpinteria, California, the 2021 edition of the Women's Pacific Coast Open will be relocating to Eldorado Polo Club (EPC) in Indio, California and played at the 16-goal level.
The Women's Pacific Coast Open highlights talented women's players competing and celebrating the legacy of legendary player Sunny Hale. A California native, Hale's many achievements includes the first woman to compete against male competitors and win the U.S. Open Polo Championship® in 2001, reviving the U.S. Open Women's Polo Championship® in 2011 and a 2018 Museum of Polo and Hall of Fame Inductee, all while serving as an inspiration to a generation of polo players.
Making their debut in the 2020 Women’s Pacific Coast Open, La Herradura (Dayelle Fargey, Izzy Parsons, Megan Gracida, Suzette Yamani) used efficient shooting from the field, including three goals from Gracida to defeat Timing (Nicole Ball, Mia Bray, Mia Novillo Astrada, Sofia Lorenzo) 7-4, and capture their first Women’s Pacific Coast Open title.
The 2021 rosters feature three competitive teams including reigning champion and Most Valuable Player Dayelle Fargey returning with Women's Pacific Coast Open newcomers Micaela Saracco and Taylor Olcott on Plank & Co. Other talented women joining the competition for the first time are Jennifer Alexy, Melanja Jones, Jessica Bailey (Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club) and Malia McCoy, Sierra Dunbar (Cheval Athletics).
