TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The America Cup™, formerly known as the 16-Goal Championship, was first played in 1974 and is a national tournament currently held at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club in Carpinteria, California. Boca Raton holds the record for most tournament victories, claiming the cup in seven of the first eight years of competition, with John T. Oxley a member of each team.
In 2021, defending champions Santa Clara met Bensoleimani.com (Ben Soleimani, Santiago Wulff, Ignacio "Iñaki" Laprida, Tomas Alberdi). Lead scorer Laprida led Bensoleimani.com to a 14-11 victory. Read article here.
This year's edition of the America Cup will be played as a subsidiary to the Farmers & Merchants Bank Silver Cup® with Klentner Ranch squaring off against Silver Cup semifinalist Antelope. Representing Team USPA are alumni Jesse Bray and Patrick Uretz (Klentner Ranch).
U.S. Polo Assn., the multi-billion-dollar, official global apparel brand of the United States Polo Association, announced it will serve as the apparel sponsor for the America Cup. As the America Cup official apparel sponsor, U.S. Polo Assn. will be featured in multiple ways including stadium branding and apparel throughout the tournament.
