UNITED STATES ARENA HANDICAP™
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
First played in 1980, the United States Arena Handicap is a 12- to 16-goal national tournament. The competition will be played as a subsidiary to the U.S. Open Arena Polo Championship presented by U.S. Polo Assn.
Flexjet (2017, 2018) and Casablanca (2019, 2020) lead the competition in victories, each claiming back-to-back championships, remaining the only two teams to earn repeat titles throughout the tournament's history. Recent champions include Hotels at Sea (2021), Liberty Hall (2022) and Prestonwood/Broken Taco (2023).
In 2023, Prestonwood/Broken Taco (Vance Miller III, Andrew Scott, Vaughn Miller Jr.) took on Bush League (Ulysses Escapite, Virgil Kyle IV, Pelon Escapite). After a suspenseful second half, Prestonwood/Broken Taco ultimately emerged victorious 14-12. Read article here.
Following elimination in the U.S. Open Arena Polo Championship, five teams will compete in this year's edition of the United States Arena Handicap, hosted by Brookshire Polo Club (Brookshire, Texas). Prestonwood/Broken Taco will seek to defend their title alongside challengers Bar-Spur, Equus Hotel Waikiki/McFaddin Ranch, Texas Arena League and Traveller's Rest.
Displaying the breadth of exceptional talent and deep roots throughout all levels of polo, the rosters feature many Intercollegiate/Interscholastic (I/I) alumni. Also featured among the players are Team USPA alumni Patrick Uretz (Bar-Spur), Devon Dailey, Tiamo Hudspeth, Steve Krueger (Equus Hotel Waikiki/McFaddin Ranch) and Nicolai Galindo (Traveller's Rest).
The United States Arena Handicap will offer a grand total of $20,000 in prize money. The prize money will be divided between first ($10,000), second ($6,000), third ($3,000) and fourth ($1,000) place teams.
