CONTINENTAL CUP™

TOURNAMENT HISTORY

The Continental Cup™, formerly known as the Fourteen Goal, is a national USPA tournament. Last played in 2017 at New Bridge Polo & Country Club in Aiken, South Carolina, where Crestview Genetics (Alan Meeker, Hugo Lloret, Pedro Manion, Tommy Biddle Jr.) defeated Bottega 12-11.

Reintroduced at the 16-goal level, the Continental Cup™ is one of three premier tournaments that make up the brand-new Wellington Polo Tour (WPT). In it's inaugural season, the WPT presented by U.S. Polo Assn. is bringing competitive polo at the 16-goal level to clubs across Palm Beach County including Valiente, Tonkawa, Patagones, Santa Clara, SD Farms and Equuleus.

Ten talented teams will compete for the 2022 Continental Cup™ hosted by Patagones Polo Club in Wellington, Florida, featuring many familiar faces on the Florida Circuit including, 18-goal International Polo Club Palm Beach Joe Barry Memorial champions Benjamin Avendano, Joaquin Avendano and Santiago Wulff (Patagones). Similarly, Ylvisaker Cup champion and Team USPA member Kristos "Keko" Magrini will continue to compete with fellow WPT Outback Invitational champions Scott Swerdlin, Raul "Gringo" Colombres and Dylan Rossiter for Palm Beach Equine.

Loaded with top American talent, the Continental Cup™ also includes Active Team USPA Member Lucas Escobar (Santa Clara) and Graduating Team USPA Members Jesse Bray (Patagones), Matt Coppola (Tonkawa) and Geronimo Obregon (Dundas).

Joaquin Avendano (Dutta Corp/Show+), Lucas Escobar (SD Farms), Kristos "Keko" Magrini (Scone) and Raul "Gringo" Colombres (Cessna) can also be seen currently competing in the first leg of the 2022 GAUNTLET OF POLO®'s C.V. Whitney Cup®.

HOST VENUE

Founded by Gonzalo Avendaño in 2004, Patagones Polo Club is located in the heart of Wellington, Florida, with a second club in Argentina. Hosting 16-goal polo as part of the Wellington Polo Tour, Patagones Polo Club sees some of the top players in the world on their grounds, but the family organization provides the soul of the club. Avendaño's sons Benjamin and Joaquin compete regularly under the Patagones name on the high-goal stage.
